Karen DeSoto launches the Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Business School at New Jersey City University with co-director and co-founder David Weiss.

The Institute was founded to:

Promote international negotiation and mediation techniques to manage disputes in cross border commercial, investor-state and general conflict resolution forums. The Institute applies these principals through applied research in the fields of negotiation and mediation studies. The Institutes mission: “to promote trade and commerce applying international mediation from a business school prospective and promote New Jersey as a place to conduct cross border disputes.

From ideation to launch, diligence pays off for the NJCU professor, attorney and NBC News legal analyst, which is why she was profiled in Miss Perfect Woman as a women for young girls to admire.

Incognito Worldwide and Inicia Incorporated works together to build websites for Ms. DeSoto and promote her endeavors. The Institute launched its first event in June 2015.

The Institute took their student team to Vienna and then Paris for competitions and seminars. In early 2016 the team won its first award at a global competition in Vienna where 30+ student team competed in Moot Court presentations.
